Mission at First Presbyterian includes:
Providing advocacy and activity in the region in areas such as housing, hunger, criminal justice, poverty issues, peacemaking and education.
Establishing a task force to address the needs of those most closely affected by recent changes in welfare legislation.
Partnering actively with Habitat for Humanity, Bread for the World and a variety of other local organizations.
Supporting a service center for those of Middle Eastern background arriving in the community, a population with whom the congregation has a long-standing and special relationship.
Supporting a transitional home for female offenders and their families.
Assisting refugee families resettling in the Lehigh Valley community.
Offering our facilities as a means of support for a number of community groups.
Making available financial support for mission at the local, Presbytery, Synod and General Assembly levels.
Initiating new ministries on a regular basis.
Sustaining worldwide covenant relationships with congregations in Scotland and the Middle East.
Supporting special interest missionaries in Northern Ireland, Pakistan, Nicaragua, Egypt, Argentina and Brazil.
