The mission of the church is to make disciples of Jesus Christ to the end that the kingdom of God is realized on earth. Working toward this goal, the Mission Team (formerly the Missions Committee) oversees, coordinates, and administers the mission outreach of this church. Our specific areas of responsibility include non-local evangelism and social ministry and outreach on the local, regional, and international levels. We work closely with the children’s ministry(*FUMC/children’s ministry/mission*), youth ministry(*FUMC/youth ministry/mission*), and United Methodist Women to ensure a comprehensive outreach to our neighbors at home and around the world. Seeking to blend solid practical planning with boundless dreaming, we remain sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit as we “embrace new frontiers of ministry and service.”

As part of our outreach we work with a variety of agencies and organizations. Some of these are a part of the United Methodist Church while others are ecumenically or community based. Most of these receive financial assistance from us while others receive a combination of monetary and volunteer support.

Providing volunteer opportunities is an integral part of making disciples. We are called to be in service and serving with and for others is an essential part of growing in Christ. Our mission outreach is therefore not only to “others” but also to our own members as well. To this end we sponsor a number of special and ongoing projects and events throughout the year. Regularly scheduled mission trips send teams to a variety of local, regional, and international destinations. These projects, events, and trips, along with volunteer positions throughout the community, provide members with plenty of “hands on” opportunities to share the good news of God’s love.
