The Folsom Historial Society was founded in 1960 by a group of local residents who recognized the need to preserve local history for future generations. Incorporated in 1961 as a 501(c)(3) non-profit educational organization, the Society's mission is to collect, and preserve historical records and artifacts pertaining to Folsom's rich past and to make these accessible to the public. The Society operates the Folsom History Museums including Pioneer Village which offer exhibits and tours about the California Gold Rush, Folsom's native inhabitants, local settlers and ethnic groups, and the history of mining, the railroad, the prison and Folsom Powerhouse.

The Folsom Historical Society is funded solely through donations, memberships, and fund-raising events. Please consider joining our efforts by becoming a member or making a donation today.
