FOOD4KIDZ is our area's food bank whose mission is to help eradicate child hunger in our beautiful community. An astounding 25% of our children live in "food insecure" households--which means that on any given day there is little to no food in the home. Over 57% of our school children are on reduced or free lunches. In one elementary school, that figure is 76%! Widespread unemployment, seasonal reduction in work hours, the lingering effects of the BP oil spill and unexpected financial emergencies have all contributed to this crisis. Most of the parents we see are hard working, proud folks who have never had to ask for help before. Through our partnership with Feeding America, we are able to purchase food at reduced cost and stock our 1,800 sq. ft. warehouse. FOOD4KIDZ IS open for shopping appointments Monday thru Friday.
