The Friends are a non-profit, 501(c)(3), volunteer organization dedicated to the preservation and interpretation of Daniel Boone and the Oley Valley.  They are currently running the historic operations of the Daniel Boone Homestead, the birthplace of Daniel Boone.  As a result of recent lay-offs of state employees for the site and lack of state support, the Friends are now completely funding the historic operations, including insurance and staff salaries.
