Friends Of The Swarthmore Public Library

121 Park Avenue

Mission :

The purpose of the Friends shall be to foster closer relations between the Swarthmore Public Library and the citizens of Swarthmore; to promote knowledge of the functions, resources, services and needs of the library and to assist the library, through fund-raising, so that it can adequately meet the needs of the community.

The Friends of Swarthmore Public Library is a dedicated non-profit group which receives financial donations on behalf of the Swarthmore Public Library.  The Library could not function as we know it without the generous community support that comes to us through the Friends of SPL.

It's pretty small and not a ton of space to sit and read, if that's what you want to do. A few computers, if you need to utilize one. If you want to sit and have a brief meeting with someone, you're better off at a coffee shop because there really isn't any space for that. Can't speak to the book collection.

It's not the closest library, but it's my favorite. I particularly like how the circulation desk is placed in the middle of the floor and I like the fact that I don't have to squeeze in and out through security turnstyles. Staff is friendly and helpful, and parking is conveniently close to the door. Bring a nickle or a dime to feed the parking meter.

One of the nicer libraries in the area, not very big but adequate.
