German-American Club of Albany

32 Cherry Street
518-482-5845

The German-American Club of Albany is a not-for-profit family oriented ethnic and social organization located at 32 Cherry Street off Fuller Road. We have been at our present since 1907 and due to our location many Capital District residents are not aware of us. Our facility is set back off the road in a nice quiet Colonie residential neighborhood nestled in a pine tree grove. Although German immigrants organized the club in the late nineteenth century, German ancestry is not necessary to attend our functions or to join the club. We are open to and welcome the public, and are always looking for new members.

Our goal is to maintain German culture and tradition by hosting monthly events such as our summer picnics in our pine tree shaded Biergarten also known as Schuetzenpark, which is also the last remaining German Biergarten in the Capital District. At these events, picnic goers enjoy fine German food, drink, live music, and dance. At all events, domestic food and drink is also available. There are activities for children to play that include a sandbox, a swing, and a slide, along with a children’s parade. In the event of rain, we always move the event indoors in our large banquet hall and barroom. In the cooler months, the club hosts monthly indoor events; usually a dinner-dances in the banquet hall where tasty German entrees are served while enjoying live German and Polka music.
