Graduate And Professional Student Council

101-3 Bryan Center

The Graduate and Professional Student Council of Duke University (GPSC – pronounced ‘gypsy’) is the umbrella student government organization for Duke’s 7 graduate and professional schools. Our purpose is to:

represent and advocate on behalf of graduate and professional students at Duke University;

serve as a liaison among the student governments of the graduate and professional schools of the University;

serve as a liaison between graduate and professional students and the University Administration;

nominate graduate and professional student representatives to University committees;

program events of interest to the graduate and professional student community; and financially support the programming of graduate and professional student groups.

GPSC is a vital resource for incoming and returning students both in the areas of academic and administrative concerns but also as a social network. Many of you may be wondering how you meet students with similar academic and social interests. You may be fresh out of an undergraduate institution and be looking to stay involved in campus life or you may be entering after completing a masters degree or working for a number of years and have different concerns about university life.

We also meet biweekly to address student concerns and issues raised by the administration. As a graduate and professional student, you are automatically a member of GPSC and we hope you will be an active one; our meetings are always open to all students. Whatever your concerns or social needs might be, we would like to address them. This is going to be an exciting and busy year for GPSC and we would like to see you at our meetings and activities!
