The Grammar School is recognized by The Connecticut Association of Independent Schools, which is approved by the United States Department of Education. To earn accreditation, a school must establish and adhere to a self-directed catalogue of policies, programs, and purposes. Accredited schools must also demonstrate that they operate with ethical principles, an intellectual environment of open inquiry, sound fiscal practice and responsible administration.

At The Grammar School, we achieve academic excellence through small class size, recognition of each learner as an individual, emphasis on communication and number skills, and the reinforcement of positive study habits.

A beneficial learning environment is based on mutual respect between the child and the teacher. This promotes problem solving, develops self-awareness, and encourages a personal sense of responsibility for learning.

Children need to feel good about school and about themselves in order to meet their academic potential. The Grammar School provides a safe, happy environment where learning is fun, classmates are friends, and the school day ends all too quickly.

The Grammar School teaches a healthy and positive respect for authority. Children are sent to the Headmaster frequently when they act in a way which shows good citizenship or academic success.

The Grammar School community believes that a child's day should be free from threats, teasing, acts of violence, and exposure to violent games, literature, and objects. We maintain a non-violent, respectful environment for students.
