About

The Granville Volunteer Fire Department, Inc has a more than 100 year legacy of protecting lives and preserving property in Granville, Ohio and the surrounding area. The GVFD was organized in 1885 as a firefighting corps, and has expanded its services to the community through the years to include emergency medical services, fire prevention, disaster preparedness and public safety education.

The GVFD operates from its station on North Prospect Street in downtown Granville. The station is manned twenty four hours a day by both volunteer members from the community and full time Firefighter / Paramedics along with part time staff members. The department’s equipment includes two fully equipped engines, one of which is outfitted with a state-of-the-art compressed air foam system, a combination engine/rescue truck, an 1,800 gallon tanker truck, a ladder truck equipped with a 93 foot aerial platform, two advanced life support emergency squad vehicles, and a grass fire vehicle.
The GVFD provides fire protection and EMS services to an approximately 72 square mile area of Licking County. This area includes the Village of Granville (including Denison University), Granville Township, the majority of McKean Township and a portion of Union Township. The GVFD also has mutual aid agreements with surrounding fire departments for assistance as needed, and in turn provides help to other departments on a similar basis.
