About Us
Grizzly Hill School, a kindergarten through eighth grade public school, is located in beautiful North Columbia, California. The school treasures its family-like ambiance and is committed to a low teacher-student ratio that averages 22 students per class.

Grizzly Hill School is proud to be designated as a California Distinguished School and honored by the state of California as a "model school for language arts instruction," one of only six schools in the state so recognized at that time.

Democratic principles are at the heart of Grizzly Hill School year 2006-2007. Students, families, community, and staff will work together to create an environment that is welcoming, respectful and appreciative of all. Students will participate within a community of learners who support and encourage one another. Individual student needs and interests will be addressed through individual, small groups, and whole class instructional formats utilizing place-based education and state-of-the-art materials.

For a number of years, Grizzly Hill's student driven projects based within the larger San Juan Ridge community have been recognized as outstanding examples of place-based education. Place-based education brings the community to the student and the student to the community through collaboration on authentic, meaningful, and creative learning projects and experiences. With its track record of success in this area, Grizzly Hill School anticipates an exciting and motivational 2006-2007 school year for all of its kindergarten through eighth grade students.
