Habitat for Humanity of South Palm Beach County (Habitat) began serving Boca Raton, Boynton Beach, and Delray Beach in 1991 and has completed 85 homes as of September 2010, including seven homes last year for 25 family members, built by 1,740+ individual volunteers.  Our mission is to provide simple, decent, affordable housing for low-income families by working in partnership with those families. Habitat strives to eliminate the problem of substandard housing one family at a time.  Individuals are invited to apply for a home and are selected based upon their need for housing, their ability to repay their mortgage, and their ability to work in partnership with Habitat.  An applicant's dream of home ownership becomes a reality because the house is sold to them through a no-interest mortgage; vital financial support is provided by the community; and the homeowners build the homes themselves, alongside volunteers.
