Hall's Cross Roads Elementary School

203 East Bel Air Avenue

Hall’s Cross Roads is a historic landmark in Harford County. Originally established in the late 1600’s as a haven and relay point for stagecoaches, Hall’s Cross Roads continues to be a hub for the community. Supported by an outstanding staff, we draw our strength from our diverse community, and continue to work together to unite our students, families, and outside community members.

Our school focus continues to be creating experiences that are conducive to high levels of student achievement. This is reflected in our school’s vision statement: “Hall’s Cross Roads Elementary School will be an exemplary community-centered school that produces thinkers and learners, leaders and ‘do-ers’ in pursuit of academic and personal excellence.” Once again, we are extremely excited to have met all areas of the Adequate Yearly Progress standards set by the federal legislation, No Child Left Behind. This continues to be achieved by our focus on instruction in the areas of language arts and mathematics and by tailoring instruction to meet the individual needs of our learners. This year, we are moving ahead at a rapid pace to maintain high levels of technology implementation in order to increase student engagement. We are the first and only elementary school to have the Interwrite virtual white board in each grade level (grades 2-5), and have two mobile wireless laptop labs at our disposal. We also continue to utilize assistive technology to augment learning opportunities in grades 1 and 2. With innovative scheduling, teachers are given intentional time each and every day for planning and looking at student work. Our work with national consultants, Dr. Harvey Silver and Richard Strong, combined with the process-driven approach of Quality Education Services (QuESt, led by Dr. Diane Rivers) not only affords opportunities to sharpen our teaching strategies, but also involves the entire school community in the school improvement process.

With great excitement and passion for teaching and learning, we expect continued progress and success for all of our students. Many successful students have walked through and among the halls of Hall’s Cross Roads and we are excited about the futures that reside in the hands of our current students. At Hall’s Cross Roads, our “Historic Past” pales in comparison to the “Legendary Future” that is ahead of our learners!
