Harmony Baptist Church is said to have started with Brush Arbor meetings sometime before 1860, at the present location. With encouragement of men such as General Lowery, the founder of  Blue Mountain College, a one-room frame building constructed of cypress was built in 1860. In 1903, the church began giving to missions. The first budget was $600.00 with  $100.00 allocated to missions. This church building was probably replaced by a white frame building which stood a few feet north of the present sanctuary.
