Hereford School works hard to create a "small school" atmosphere for its over 600 students in grades Kindergarten through Fourth Grade. A range of classroom techniques is used to enhance the learning process, including cooperative learning, co-teaching, peer tutoring and portfolio assessment.     The P.T.F.S. (Parents and Teachers for Students) organization provides funding for field trips as well as support in activities and programs throughout the school year. The P.T.F.S. also secured a grant hosting the Artist-In-Residence Program which brings the artists, authors and puppeteers into the school.  

Children’s work and creative efforts decorate the hallways of Hereford Elementary School. The School’s Publishing Center types and binds approximately 400 hardcover books each year written by our students.  Support for teachers, students and parents is provided by the Instructional Support Team, which works on effective techniques for students who need assistance.   Children at Hereford Elementary School are also busy with many extracurricular activities including field trips, a Christmas Bazaar, Fourth Grade Square Dance and Jump Rope Contest, Roller Skating Parties, Book Fairs, Yearbook, Hereford Hike, Family Fun Nights, Awards Assemblies, Homework Incentive Parties, Outdoor Clubs and much more.  These activities are made possible by the dedicated involvement of community, parents and staff.
