In Our Church

Within our congregation, many parishioners are quick to respond to the needs of one another by providing support, comfort, prayer, and companionship when others are in crisis. This outreach takes many forms. Eucharistic Ministers provide Eucharist to our homebound sisters and brothers, deliver meals when a parishioner becomes ill, and serve refreshments following weddings or funerals at the church.

The Women of Holy Trinity have provided for social functions as well as sponsoring fund-raising and outreach activities, fellowship events, and opportunities for spiritual growth. The Women of Holy Trinity do special coffee hours for Easter, Bishop's visitations, farewells, funerals, and other special events. The Women of Holy Trinity also support the church's fellowship activities. The Women also sponsor Breakfast with Santa and serve with Habitat for Humanity.

In Our Community

We support the largest FISH (Friends in Self-Help) pantry in the county. Many members of our congregation are active in this ministry. Under the coordination of the Outreach Committee, we provide food and clothing for needy families in the county four times a year: at the beginning of the school year, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter. We also contribute to the county Emergency Fuel Fund, and members of our congregation visit local nursing homes and senior day-care centers.

Another outreach project, initiated at Holy Trinity, is Harford Family House (formerly Holy Family House). It was started as an Episcopal ministry in the Harford Region of the Diocese of Maryland that provides transitional housing for many families. We began this ministry with only one apartment. Now we have twelve apartments and four single-family homes. Holy Trinity parishioners serve as members of the Board while other parishioners give generously of their time, tithes, and talent to Harford Family House.

In Our World

We have established relationships and provided support to both St. Martin’s Episcopal Church in Tokyo and to Bishop Mokiwa and the Diocese of Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania. Our relationship with these two parishes has been as enriching for us as we are for them. We became friends with Valentine Mokiwa, now the Bishop of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, when he was enrolled in Virginia Theological Seminary. He traveled to our parish to preach and assist with services. Over the years we have helped him with a variety of needs including construction of a community well. We have provided four scholarships for orphans with AIDS in his diocese. This money is used both for their schools tuitions and to help provide groceries for the families with whom the children are now living. We also support Heifer International, a charity that provides livestock to people in the developing world.
