Homestead Center for the Arts

Mission Statement:

The Homestead Center for the Arts was chartered in 1976 as part of the nation's Bicentennial celebration. See our History page for specifics on the origins of our beginning. One of our goals has been to promote the cultural and educational arts, appreciation for artistic endeavor and to act as a network for not-for-profit affiliates. From 1993 through 1997, our association with TheatreworksUSA made it possible to bring artistic excellence to our community's families. At the present time our emphasis has been on the Bea Peskoe Lunchtime Lectures Series named for Bea Peskoe who, along with her husband Irving and several others, were founding members of the original Homestead Center for the Arts.

Another goal has been to bring together the cultural groups within the community. Today, we have twenty local artistic organizations affiliated with the HCA. This relationship sets up a network for communication among the arts organizations, identifying common needs and interests. The role that HCA seeks to play is one of support and collaboration with our affiliate organizations. We also act as the pass-through agency for the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs grants to Homestead/Florida City area arts organizations.
