City of Jackson's Recreation & Parks Department provides active and passive recreation, athletics, and cultural enhancement, for all ages, interests and levels of ability.

The department is administered by the City of Jackson's Department of Public Services. Tony Black, Director of Recreation & Parks, oversees a full-time, year-round and a part-time, seasonal staff. The department works closely with a board appointed by the Jackson City Council. Recreation & Parks also works with state, federal, and private entities to develop and expand some facilities, parks, and programs.

In addition to administration, staff responsibilities include athletic and recreation programming, maintenance, and groundskeeping. Overall, Recreation & Parks staff maintain more than 24 parks, recreation/community centers and historic sites. The City of Jackson's Recreation & Parks Department endeavors to enhance the quality of life for residents. From the serenity of Cypress Grove Nature Center to the excitement of sports leagues, the parks, centers, and sites maintained by the department offer year-round opportunities for recreation and athletic activities.
