The Emancipation Celebration Committee is proud to announce its Annual Emancipation Celebration at Ewert Park in Joplin, MO. The "Emancipation Celebration" is a Joplin tradition, having been celebrated annually since at least 1914 (over 100 years). The purpose of the Emancipation Celebration is to provide a cultural event that educates on African American freedom and achievement. We use this event to promote cultural diversity and respect for all cultures. This event is also used to support other Committee objectives which are to serve, educate and advocate in our community.
