Jumpstart Therapy & Fitness Network was established in 1987 by Catherine Risigo, MS, OTR/L,a certified Occupational Therapist with a Master’s Degree in nutrition. During her years of practice, Catherine noticed that there was something missing from her thriving therapy business: kids referred to her therapy program did not always need traditional Physical, Speech, Behavioral or Occupational Therapy. They needed instead to be more physically fit. The lack of core muscle strength and a sedentary lifestyle has an unwanted impact on learning, behavior and overall development which affects the child and the family as a whole. Ms. Risigo developed innovative therapy and fitness program for children of all ages, shapes, and sizes to help children overcome barriers to success and thrive. After extensive research, she found evidence to support the benefits of physical activity in reducing unwanted behaviors, building self-esteem and increasing learning potential.
