The Kemp Fire Department proudly protects and serves approximately 5000 people in southern Kaufman County. Our response area covers 171 square miles. We respond out of 1 station and our response area is primarily rural. We currently have 26 active members. Our current ISO rating is 6 and we are implementing programs to better that rating.

The Kemp Fire Department was established in 1926. It has grown from little more than a bucket brigade to a recently built station that houses 5 pieces of apparatus:

1999 Freightliner FL-70 pumper (city response) 1250 GPM, 1000 gallon tank, 5 man cab, 5" large diameter supply hose.

1988 Chevrolet Suburban rescue (1st responder & command vehicle).

1988 Chevrolet C-30 grass truck.

1993 GMC Topkick 2-ton grass truck

Our equipment includes :
MSA air packs with mask mounted regulators.
Bauer 4500 psi Cascade System to fill our SCBA cylinders.
Holmatro hydraulic rescue tool with cutter, spreader, ram, and extensions.
Portable water supply pump.
Portable generator with halogen lights and cord reels.
2 Master stream monitors.
2 Positive pressure ventilation fans.
Various hand tools.

We also carry medical equipment to treat the sick or injured prior to EMS arrival.

The Kemp Fire Department holds regular meetings on the 1st and 3rd Monday of each month in order to conduct business and have training sessions.
