About Us

The Kent Theatre was constructed in 1947 in the Early American or Early Colonial architectural style. The original builder and theatre owner was Donald Lebruns. Don and Vi Lebruns, loved by all in the community, operated the Kent Theatre for over 50 years.

The last owners were Larry and Libby Reynolds, who owned the theatre for approximately 6 years. Larry and Libby did extensive renovation to the Kent Theatre to preserve its historic character and to improve the theatre with modern technological equipment: the roof was reconstructed; heating and air conditioning improved; the theatre seats were upgraded; two new projectors, a three platter system and new surround sound system equipment was installed; the restrooms and other various equipment and fixtures were renovated.

The Kent Theatre is a one-screen cinema with over 225 seats. The actual occupancy of the theatre is around 289, however, the area in front of the stage remains open for special events. It has a rather large stage and plans are to renovate this area for future theatrical performances, traveling acts, comedy troupes, and possible talent shows. Current movies are featured on the large, 32 foot wide by 24 foot tall screen.

Due to the nature of the theatre and the continued community involvement, the Kent Theatre does not present itself as a large, unreceptive entity; rather it is a comfortable, intimate experience. It is not just a movie theatre but a fun and entertaining venue where families and friends are warmly welcomed. Throughout the year, different promotions are offered. Every Wednesday is Nacho Wednesday with special pricing on chips and nacho cheese. Every Thursday is Popcorn Thursday which we offer a free popcorn for 2 paid admissions. Senior movies are shown at varied times throughout the year and sponsored by local companies or organizations. The annual Christmas show, sponsored by the local Lion's Club, is highlighted with the arrival of Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus to the theatre to bolster the hearts of the children in the community. A Summer Family Film Festival debuted at the Kent Theatre in the summer of 2006 and, due to the attendance, will continue this year as well.

We, at the Kent Theatre, are very proud of this establishment and the involvement with the nearby communities and wish for you to join us on occasion for a movie and popcorn. Whether it is an older movie or a current blockbuster, we look forward to bringing you "good classic fun".
