Kimpton Middle School utilizes a team approach in order to develop learners who are goal-oriented, independent thinkers and decision-makers. These qualities will enable the students to be capable, caring and responsible members of their communities.

The construction of Kimpton Middle School was completed in 1970 at a cost of $2.5 million. Currently the enrollment is numbered around 990 students, housed in 41 classrooms. Certified personnel consists of 61 teachers, two principals, two guidance counselors and one librarian. In addition, there are three secretaries, two monitors, a library aide and an in-school supervisor as well as various maintenance personnel. The average class size for the seventh-grade academic classes is 27 students.

Kimpton is organized on the basis of middle school interdisciplinary teaching teams and flexible scheduling. Each teaching team consists of two or four teachers who are responsible for teaching the academic content from each subject area: Language Arts, Math, Social Studies, and Science, both 7th and 8th grade level. Teachers have a daily common planning period to coordinate and integrate instruction. Students will also have an introduction to the arts while attending: Technology Education, Work and Family Life, Music, Health and Physical Education.

Other available programs include 7th and 8th grade vocal music (choir), instrumental music (band), strings (orchestra), math intervention, a gifted program and special education.

Interscholastic athletics include football, soccer, girls volleyball, boys and girls basketball, boys and girls track and cross country, and boys wrestling. There are football, baseball and soccer fields as well as a track, located behind Kimpton. Important note: sports physicals are required for individuals who wish to participate in an interscholastic sport.
