Since 1997, the Winnipesaukee Skating Club has been operating the Laconia Ice Arena, providing a recreational opportunity for the Lakes Region’s residents and visitors of all ages.
Recognizing the need for an indoor ice facility in 1992, a small group of parents and supporters, led by Merrill Fay, began to talk in earnest about building this facility. The group formed the non-profit Winnipesaukee Skating Club, and Mr. Fay gave the project a “shot in the arm” by donating the land and building for the project. The Club’s goal to construct the ice arena was realized through the generosity of the Lakes Region, where donations of cash, labor and materials greatly assisted efforts to build the Rte. 107 facility.
