Lanier Hills Church

3129 Duckett Mill Road

In 1994 the first Bible study of Lanier Hills Church began on Wednesday night in a home in Gainesville, GA. Forty friends decided they wanted to start a church that was passionate about reaching people from all walks of life. The church quickly moved to a house and then to rented space in the Blue Ridge Shopping Center and then later occupied the Theatre next door. The church called Ron Barker as their Pastor. Lanier Hills Church was incorporated on April 13,1994. After explosive growth the church secured its present 40 acre property on November 16th, 1995. In 1999 the Worship Center was completed and the Family Center was completed the following year. In 2005 Randall Popham became the Lead Pastor and in October of 2009 the church launched a second Campus in north Hall County, GA. In January of 2015 the second campus was launched as church plant which is now called Journey Church.

I found this place in the hotel registry book in the room where I staying while here on business. It stood out and and after checking out their web site, it has a nice contemporary progressive feel. While is says baptist here, it didn't feel like most baptist churches I have have been to in the past. I don't know this church's past, but perhaps it was one of those churches that gets "born again" and updates its model for the current generation. i liked it's slogan; "a perfect church for people who aren't". It seemed real and not just a shtick. The people were nice and friendly and the Spirit of God seemed to be evident. both of the pastors I talked to were very nice and approachable. I had some pleasant discussions with them and one even offered to get together for lunch if I had time while I was here in town. The message was relevant and it hit home on a couple of points. Godly advice; what it is and is not and how to recognize it. the campus is new and has any open layout as is the sanctuary. It is all very inviting. I went to the 9am service and it was a smaller group w/ an intimate feel during the worship. Definitely somewhere I would recommend and go if I lived here.
