Our students are marked by courage enough to take risks, and the self-esteem, caring and character they need to brighten the world.

The Lawndale Elementary School District will continue to commit itself to curriculum that affirms students? individual gifts and recognizes multiple intelligence?s while fostering mastery of the California State standards. We integrate our curriculum to ensure students? access to knowledge, and invite students? experiences into the classroom to make studies relevant and meaningful. Research-proven teaching strategies steer our ongoing professional development and guide our practice.

To create and maintain such a community, the Lawndale Elementary School District unites faculties, families, and students as joint decision-makers and leaders in the life of the schools. These leaders then seek local businesses to partner with schools, enlivening school life and bringing fresh perspectives. The district also broadens the confines of the school day to include before and after school enrichment programs, an open media center, and a sports program, making school resources available to families each day, from morning until night. The staff members, district administrators and school board members demonstrate and communicate nurturing ways and a passion for teaching and learning. They make integrity, honesty, and responsibility their guides.

By balancing our curriculum and broadening our view of intelligence, by supporting educators in continually advancing their expertise, by opening schools and their resources to more people for more hours, we create a community in which all are scholars and all are teachers, working together to spark a life-long love for learning.
