Linden-Linthicum United Methodist Church Of Clarksville

12101 Linden Linthicum Lane
410-531-5653

Our role, as stated in our Mission Statement, is "Celebrating Our Faith Through: Worship, Outreach, Fellowship, Music, Youth/Education." Out of this flows the major activities of our church.

Two congregations rooted deep in the history of Howard County, Maryland...Linden Church and Linthicum Chapel, united in 1959 to form... Linden-Linthicum United Methodist Church.

Linden Church grew out of a congregation that worshipped in the Old Friendship Church meeting house built around 1800. In 1820, "a neat, tasteful church" was built near Dayton at the intersection of Linden Church and Ten Oaks Rd.

Linthicum Chapel dated back to 1806 when land was purchased for a church named after the son of its first pastor, Rev. Slingsby Linthicum. His son's name was Hezekiah. By the 1950's, the county was growing and better facilities and a stronger congregation was needed to serve a growing community.

Following the merger in 1959, a new building was constructed and dedicated as the new site of the Linden-Linthicum UM Church in October 1963. A new parsonage was built on the four acre site in 1973 and a small office structure added in 1994.

As this location is now next to the construction of River Hill Village of Columbia, a new community, the congregation is challenged to build again to meet growing needs. Our Building Committee is making plans for new space for education and expanded worship seating. Within the limits of our campus, we feel we can nearly double our present membership and still retain the "country-church" flavor of our building. We will still sit on the edge of the residential and commercial development of Columbia and overlook the rolling hills of agricultural Howard County.
