LWC an Enrichment program for TuolumneCounty is a valuable resource in the community for families who wish to provide more hands on learning experiences for their children.  We have established locations where we provide activities at no charge to girls ages 6-13.  Our programs for girls include once a week meet -up at Jo-Anns Craft and Fabric store to work on crafts and sewing activities.  In Soulsbyville we meet to promote social engagement and play organized games, have group discussions about sportsmanship, what it is to be beautiful and talks on friendship.  Our leadership component is going well with 5 girls signed up to learn more about volunteering in their community.  We have a service project lined up to design and install a playground for families in a mobile home park.

LWC visits local schools to bring math lessons with PBL - project based learning activities.  We have specific math concepts that we teach to charter schools students in Tuolumne including Mtn.OakSchool, The Little Red School and the Country School- Gold Rush Charter. For example:  when we introduce String Art to students we talk about geometrical figures - polygons, their shapes which the string art forms depending on the designs the students choose.  The activity introduces mathematical terminology to young children, such as the names of each type of polygon and if they are irregular or regular, convex or parallel.  Our goal is to be asked by more schools to provide PBL activities for their students that include math in the art concepts.

Arts and Crafts for Kids in Jamestown and our Wild Life Study in Columbia are new events that are successful in delivering free activities for kids and parents to participate in together, and it becomes extended "anytime learning" when they take the projects home.  We have had good turn out and will continue to offer these events in the community.

We are engaging 40 kids every week during the school year with "the Power of Anytime Learning" philosophy.
