Established in 1947, the Malden Housing Authority seeks to provide economical, safe and sanitary housing for eligible families as well as elderly and handicapped/disabled persons. In cooperation with federal, state and local governments, the Malden Housing Authority maintains over 1000 units of public housing and administers subsidies in excess of 800 units of private housing. Under the guidance of its five member Board of Commissioners, the Malden Housing Authority not only is committed to improving the quality of life of residents but also serves as a community resource and partner.

Incorporating a variety of styles from quadraplex to high rise, the Malden Housing Authority maintains properties throughout the City including eight major developments. Likewise, subsidized private units administered by the Malden Housing Authority can be found in all sections of the community.

In conjunction with public and private sector organizations the Malden Housing Authority conducts a variety of programs for residents. Education, computer training, wellness programs, youth sports endeavors and anti-drug efforts are featured. Malden Housing Authority development sites also are used for community events, safety events, food programs and medical forums. A Service Coordinator is also utilized to better health and social services for residents.
