About Us:

Situated in the heart of the Daniel Boone National Forest, Manchester Memorial Hospital provides healthcare services to Clay, Jackson and Owsley counties. The facility began service in 1917 as the Oneida Mountain Hospital before building at the current location in 1971. Memorial's Christian mission is central to the hospital’s participation in the wellness of the community.

Manchester Memorial Hospital is a 63-bed acute care, not-for-profit Christian community hospital and adheres to the mission of reflecting the healing ministry of Christ. The hospital is owned and operated by Adventist Health System (AHS), the largest not-for-profit Protestant healthcare organization in the US. AHS currently operates 37 hospitals in ten states.

Today this facility has more than 500 employees who care for the residents of Clay and surrounding counties. Manchester Memorial Hospital averages 60,000 patient visits each year, including 19,000 emergency visits and nearly 200 births. In the 1950s, the hospital was an innovator in home nursing care, taking much-needed medical services directly to the people.  Currently, Manchester Memorial Hospital is the parent organization for five home healthcare offices serving 12 counties in Kentucky and West Virginia.

Manchester Memorial Hospital is fully accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations and has twice been named a 100 Top Hospital in America. We provide advanced treatment options previously found only at larger medical centers outside our region. Today, patients and families receive the care they need without leaving town.
