About the Massachusetts Symphony Orchestra

With its mission to make its events accessible to as many people in the community as possible, the Massachusetts Symphony Orchestra's annual activities include the admission-free Summer Concert Series in Worcester's Institute Park as well as symphonic and 'pops' performances in Worcester's Tuckerman and Mechanics Halls before audiences numbering in the thousands. In 1995, the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency, in awarding a $10,000 operating grant to the Symphony, observed "[f]or years the applicant seems to have interacted with its community in a broad range of ways, leading to the group's well-established track record among its diverse supporters. The quality of the music submitted is excellent, as is the organization's administration - which is dedicated to maintaining and extending the group's commitment to diversity."
