Welcome to Meadowmoor Orchard, located at "the farm" in Woodstock, Illinois. We are a blossoming orchard specializing in homegrown apple varieties, including Honeycrisp, Fuji, Topaz, Crimson Crisp, Enterprise and SnowSweet and Sweet Sixteen. We also dabble in cherries, peaches, pears and pumpkins.
Our orchard is situated on 132 beautiful acres with Silver Creek flowing through the marsh. "The farm" was originally purchased by our grandfather, Carl Rietesel, circa 1950. His desire was to develop a private duck hunting club, which he originally called Meadowmoor. Today, our uncle Byron continues to flood the marsh and manages Duck Hollow Hunt Club, which has enjoyed a recent increase in ducks, geese, cranes, plovers, swans and Arctic Terns.
In 2004, our parents, Steven and Lee, retired from their teaching careers and began planting apple trees on the hillside overlooking the Silver Creek marsh. Originally, the apple trees planted were for a home orchard until Steven began planting trees by the hundreds. Our family was devastated when we lost our beloved wife and mother, Lee, on June 12, 2009 after her long battle with cancer. The orchard kept our family together as we grieved.
