Memorial Baptist Church exists for five purposes:

Worship - our primary purpose is to worship the risen christ for what he's done and, more importantly, for who he is! It's not for his own vanity's sake that we worship him but out of a recognition of our ineptitude to meet our own needs and his power to meet us where we have needs. We're all made as worshippers and all of us, whether we're religious or not, worship something. Our choice at mbc is to worship christ.

Discipleship - when jesus walked the face of the earth, 12 men followed him, learning all they could from him. We call these 12 men the "disciples." at mbc, it's our belief that we're still called to be learners at the feet of jesus. That's why we've made that an integral part of who we are. Learning to live what we say we believe means learning to be like christ.

Fellowship - one of the most fundamental aspects of church is the mutual encouragment and support we draw from simply being together in the same place at the same time. Fellowship is exactly that - mutual encouragment toward the same goal - christlikeness!

Ministry - there's nothing more powerful than seeing the body of christ (the church) act in accordance with john 13, loving others as we have been loved. That's ministry! You don't have to be a minister to do it - just one who wants to be used and to become more christlike!

Evangelism - the final of our purposes focuses on our willingness to share the hope we've found with others in the hope that they'll find the same purpose in life we've found. Evangelism, at the root of the word, means "good news" and is our means of helping others find the path to christlikeness.
