Mission

As people claimed by Jesus Christ and called into mission by Him, the congregation of Memorial Presbyterian Church, must relate to our community and to the world in ways that display Christ’s compassion for the poor, His concern for justice, and His commitment to peace.

The purpose of the Mission Committee is to direct the congregation in these ends, both within the local community and extending to national and international concerns. It also explains, promotes, and interprets the needs within our local congregation and recommends our response through giving and service. The Mission Committee also explains, promotes, and interprets mission programs and concerns of the Presbytery and the General Assembly and encourages our participation in them.

Specific on-going responsibilities:

The Mission Committee recommends to the Session which programs, agencies, and projects are to receive our mission giving support and the amount to be given to each. The Mission Committee plans and promotes special offerings for mission, especially One Great Hour of Sharing (Palm Sunday), and the Christmas Joy Offering.
