About Us

Driven by a deep commitment to preserve community history, the Friends of Historic Meridian (FHM) was established as a private non-profit organization in 1974. Our mission is “to create and sustain an active appreciation of local history.”

In addition to preserving and maintaining the historic structures in the Meridian Historical Village, FHM offers a variety of community outreach and educational programs. We offer both on-site and in-class programs that are designed to make history come alive. Annual events include the Music in the Park summer concert series in June and July, a day camp for children in August, a Heritage Festival the last Saturday in September, and Christmas in the Village the first Sunday in December. FHM also publishes a quarterly newsletter, The Gatekeeper, and periodically offers free programs of local or historical interest.

While we're delighted that you're visiting our website, behind everything you see here are real live people. Our hope is that you'll move from cyberspace to real space and be our guest sometime at any of the activities that may have caught your interest. The real heart and soul of the Meridian Historical Village awaits your personal on-site visit. We believe you'll enjoy what you find here.

Please join us as our guests at the Meridian Historical Village!
