Metropolitan Performing Arts

Metropolitan Performing Arts is a non-profit 501 (c) 3 that is dedicated to enriching our community by nurturing a lifelong passion and appreciation for live arts through education and performance opportunities. Our academy offers classes for both children and adults in acting, singing, dance, tech and more. Our community theater is committed to a quality community theater experience that involves and enlightens.

Our Academy (MPAA) allows each student to realize and reach their creative potential through class placement and individualized educational plans. Students will be assessed and placed in classes that best suit their individual needs. Upon placement, the progress of your student is monitored to ensure they are continuing on their educational plan. Not only are our students encouraged to focus on their specific areas of study, but also try out classes to see what other talents they may possess. Students will find a balance between our technique driven classes, as well as our performance related classes. Students can chose to take individual classes, or be part of our musical theater program, or MTP for short. MTP's focus is to train ‘Triple Threats’- talented individuals who can sing, dance and act with equal accomplishment. Tuition in this program will include up to three (3) technique driven core classes (one acting, one dance and one vocal), along with a role in our Academy's main production. The development of performance skills is a vital part of being a Triple Threat. With the opportunity to be on stage, students will grow into a polished stage performer.

Our Community Theatre Project (MCTP) is dedicated to preserving a quality community theatre experience. In the past seven years we have produced ten main stage theatrical productions for the Portland/Vancouver metropolitan area, including several PAMTA and DRAMMY nominations. Each of these productions have enriched the community by exposing new generations to live musical theatre productions including The Fantasticks, The Mystery of Edwin Drood, Chicago, Rent, Little Women, Annie, Gypsy, Meet Me in St. Louis, and Les Misérables. As a community organization we are reaching out to you, the community that we serve, to partner with us to keep community theatre alive and well in the Pacific Northwest.
