History:
The first public school building in Milltown, IN was built in 1853 on Main Street in the city of Milltown. It was a very small building and was used until a much larger school was built above the firehouse in 1900. It had 4 rooms! Milltown received it's high school commission in 1916, and 7 students graduated that year!

In 1923, a brick school building was built at a cost of $36,000; but it burned in 1935. It stood at the site of the present school building. It was rebuilt and ready for students that fall. In 1954, the townspeople launched a massive fund drive to build a new gym. They had pie suppers, bingos and a special auction. The gym that was built is now used as part of the elementary school.

In 1976, the Superintendent decided that a consolidated school would be the best route for Milltown and the other county schools. So the 5 county high schools consolidated into the new Crawford County High School located on Highway 66 North of Marengo.
