The Ruffed Grouse Society and American Woodcock Society are hunter based conservation organizations dedicated to promoting the management of early successional forest habitats for a range of game and non-game species across the range of the ruffed grouse and American woodcock. Made up of conservation sportsmen and women, RGS and AWS also place emphasis hunter recruitment and retention. Several programs aimed at introducing new hunters to ruffed grouse and woodcock hunting are in the works.
