Mount Pocono Borough Located in the northwest section of Monroe County and containing 3.8 square miles (2,445 acres) of land area, Mount Pocono Borough is bounded on the west and north by Coolbaugh Township, on the east by Paradise Township and on the south by Pocono Township. As noted previously, the Borough lies at the junction of roads which have historically served as the primary travel routes for the region. Route 611 runs south to Stroudsburg and East Stroudsburg and north to Scranton. Route 940 provides access to the west and to the east, connecting with Route 191 which runs to Stroudsburg. Just to the west of the Borough, Route 940 intersects with Interstate Route 380 which connects to Interstate Route 80 less than three miles to the south. This unique regional setting places the Borough in the heart of the Poconos,l yet within easy access to the metropolitan areas of New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania.
