About Us

The Mt Baldy Fire Department is an all-volunteer department. No member of the department draws any compensation for services rendered except the satisfaction of lending a helping hand and thanks. The Department operates solely on donations and fund raising activities such as the Steak Fry, which has been a permanent feature for 49 years.
The Department's functions are similar to most other fire departments. We fight fires (both structure & wild land), but due to the large number of visitors to the San Antonio Canyon area, the majority of our calls consist of medical aids, traffic collisions, and rescues. For the latter, an eight member Mountain Rescue Team has been developed as a specialized unit of the department. The members of the Mt Baldy Fire Department donate over 4500 hours to responses, training, and administration – equivalent to three full time fire fighters.

Over the year’s additional fire fighting equipment and vehicles have been added, due to the dependable support of the Mt Baldy residents. In 1976 a needed addition to the firehall was constructed by the firefighters under the supervision of Chief Harvey Good. In April 2003 the Mt Baldy Fire Department purchased a 1989 and 1990 E-One 4x4 mini-pumper from Bountiful City Fire Department in Utah. They have replaced the 1976 Pierce mini-pumper and 1978 E-One Engine. We expect to take delivery of a new 2006 Ford F450 rescue truck towards the end of the summer.
