40 Ebony Way
304-229-0314

Mission Statement:
Our mission is to reach everyone with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. To love everyone regardless of race, income, and abilities. To minister and teach, equiping everyone for the spiritual battles that we face everyday. To heal, deliver, and to set free those that are in bondage to the enemy.

About Us:

Mount Tabor is a growing multicultural church that is lead by the Holy Spirit. We teach and preach the Word of God and believe in the power of prayer, victory in praise, and joy in fellowship. Our goal is to equip all believers to “go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation.”

We are a loving, family oriented church with Christ centered activities for all ages. Through ministries within the church, and through Mission Field Ministries, we are working to meet the spiritual and physical needs of our members and our community. We welcome all with the love of Jesus Christ and pray that each person who joins us in fellowship does not leave untouched.

History:
Beginning in 1888, Mt. Tabor Baptist Church assembled at the Old Woodbine School in Bunker Hill, West Virginia. The congregation met on the first and third Sundays of the month while a Methodist church met on the second and forth Sundays. The Baptists decided that they would like to have a place of their own for their worship, and on February 4, 1901 the land where the current building sits was purchased for $40.00. The lot next door where the cemetery is located was also purchased at that time for $20.00. The  purchase was made by trustees Philip Strother, Louise Green and Champion Green. The building was constructed in 1907 and completed in 1908. In a ceremony in late summer of 1908, Mr. Ben Cage of the Old Fellow organization laid the cornerstone of the church and Pastor B.F. Thomas of Berryville, VA dedicated the church. Reverend Waters was the first to preach from the pulpit.

There have been many pastors since that time, including Reverend Thomas Green and Reverend Donald Williams in the early part of the century and Reverend Matthew Means, Reverend Arthur Patterson and Reverend Peter Thomas more recently. The current Pastor, Reverend Donald Wilson became pastor in April 2004.
