Music for Youth was the creation of Marianne Liberatore and a few individuals with the goal and passion of bringing classical music, professionally performed, into the lives of young people in Fairfield County, Connecticut.  Their goal was and is "to foster the love and knowledge of classical music in young people," and with their zeal and commitment it became the mission of Music for Youth. This mission is realized each season with a series of FREE Young Persons' Concerts, a School Residency program,  and an annual Scholarship.

Music for Youth was incorporated in 2002 as a not-for-profit organization. Run largely by volunteers with professional training and careers in music and the arts, they are devoted to implementing the mission of the organization.  Former Executive Program Director, Cynthia Cummiskey, states:  "Our Board is dedicated to keeping Music for Youth alive now and in the future.  We firmly believe that classical music can be a transformative element in the growth of every young person, and that helping create the next generation of performers and audiences is of the utmost importance to society."
