The Christian Chapel Baptist Church was located in Duplin County, near Pasture Branch from 1884 to 1920. In July 1920, Christian Chapel had out grown the building and purchased another tract of land to accommodate its members. This land was purchased by Mr. Jimmie Farrior and his wife, Mrs. Nellie Farrior. The church remained in this area from 1921 until December 1942. The church had grown in number; most people had moved out of the community. Two groups were sent out to look for another tract of land more conveniently located. The area with the most votes was the one near Charity Cross Roads on Highway 11. In January 1943, the new place had its first service. It was called the New Christian Chapel Baptist Church. All of this was done under the leadership of our Pastor, Rev. C. R. Murray. During these 114 years, according to the records, 16 pastors served.
