NEW YORK FEMA 1 CERT

PO BOX 310431 BROOKLYN, NEW YORK 11231
347-408-5345

New York FEMA 1 CERT is a community based Community Emergency Response Team (aka CERT) in Community Board 12, Borough Park, Brooklyn.

The Team Chief, Peter A. Morici is also the creator and trainer of the First FEMA trained CERT Unit in New York City Battery Park City CERT. This team is the largest individual FEMA trained CERT Unit in NYC that hosts over 300 volunteers. The second largest is New York FEMA 1 CERT in Brooklyn and the third most active that Team Chief Morici created in Staten Island back in 2005 is Port Richmond CERT.  Other teams Team Chief Morici created are Brooklyn South CERT in Brooklyn and Gateway Cathedral in S.I. Presently, all these teams are under the NYC Office of Emergency Management CERT program.

New York FEMA 1 CERT trains six days a week, with Friday being the off day for the Sabbath of our Jewish religious membership. In this manner "all members" have a chance to participate and train weekly in assisting the communities in the event of a disaster. In non emergency conditions New York FEMA 1 CERT assists the NYC Office of Emergency Management in its Ready New York program.

New York FEMA 1 CERT also extends an open invitation  to all CERT units in NYC   to come train and practice with them. This invitation is also extended to all community members in the surrounding areas to come and be educated and potential to join our team.
