Nine Flags Festival

About

For more than a decade, the Nine Flags Festival has paid homage to the rich and spirited history of the oldest town in Texas. That history includes three attempts to establish a Republic of Texas. Thus, nine flags have flown over Nacogdoches as opposed to the six that have represented Texas. They are French, Spanish, Magee-Gutierrez, Dr. James Long, Mexican, Fredonia Rebellion, Lone Star, Confederate Stars & Bars and United States of America.

The friendly staff will help you figure out what's worth seeing during your time in town. They also have plenty of displays and artifacts about the Nac area, famous citizens, industries like oil and timber, and the NINE flags over Nac. The exterior of the building has nice landscaping and statues.

Stopped here for a quick minute that turned into an informative leisurely afternoon through the town of Nacogdoches. We were educated on the history of the area and the people by their well put together and presented exhibits and the informative lady at the desk. Ate some good food at the diner and met some nice while in this nice to have visited town.

great place with some historical artifacts and pictures. i f you are a David Crockett enthusiast you will like their exhibit. If you are from there or have a relative that was you can buy a brick and have their name engraved on it and put in the sidewalk out front.
