North Coventry Township

845 South Hanover Street
610-323-1694

The original inhabitants of what is now North Coventry Township were the Lenni-Lenape, a native American people. They were part of the Algonquin nation and generally a peaceful people. They lived in villages located along the Schuylkill River and traded with the European trappers and traders that passed through the region. The first house in the Township, although no longer existing, was believed to have been built by Peter Bezellion, one of these early traders. Laurelwood Road, which runs north and south through the Township, was an original Native American pathway.
