North Olmsted Evangelical Friends Church

5665 Great Northern Boulevard
440-779-9484

History :

From a nucleus of eleven members of nearby West Park Friends Church, NOEFC was born. The group hoped to form another church branch in nearby North Olmsted. They first met on October 6, 1968 at Butternut Elementary School in North Olmsted.

In that year, Great Northern Boulevard was only a dotted line on a map indicating a future road when two women from the church approached Irving James as he worked in his nursery. He agreed to sell over seven acres of his property to build a church.

Early prayer meetings were held in individual homes. Visiting pastors came from other churches. The church grew to an average attendance of 46.

Ten years later in 1978, groundbreaking for the new church building was held.

In 2000, it was evident that the church had outgrown its current building. The existing 150 members contributed to a building fund to expand the church building.

The new building was dedicated in May, 2001 adding a Family Life Center/Gym, an expanded sanctuary, new offices, classrooms, larger nurseries, music room and an additional kitchen.

Today, membership averages over 500 and the church continues to grow exponentially as we share the love of Jesus with people throughout the surrounding area.

Our Beliefs :
The Evangelical Friends Church does not advance new teachings or doctrines. Instead, we seek to rediscover New Testament teachings and apply these age-old truths to our lives.
- God is our Father. Jesus Christ is "the Word made flesh" for us.
- The Holy Spirit is our Comforter, Strengthener, and Guide.
- The Bible is the written Word of God, inspired by Him.
- A person receives forgiveness through repentance for sins and belief in Jesus Christ as Savior.
- The mission of the Church is to communicate the Good News of Salvation to people everywhere.
