How do you get children to eat more vegetables? Get them involved in growing and preparing seasonal produce, and chances are they'll be more likely to sample and enjoy the fruits of their labors. Calistoga Joint Unified School District's Nutrition Education Program provides garden and cooking-based nutrition and fitness lessons to students and families. Our goal is to increase consumption of healthful fruits and vegetables and encourage a healthy lifestyle. The Nutrition Education Program is funded by a grant from the California Nutrition Network for Healthy, Active Families. With only two part-time staff for the entire school district, we greatly appreciate volunteers from the community.
