Our school community has a shared vision of high expectations for our learners. The focus will always be on the diverse academic, social, emotional and physical well-being of all students.

Current school intiatives place emphasis on each student taking ownership of their learning by practicing critical, creative and self-regulated thinking. Reading and writing experiences are integrated into classroom instruction in a purposeful manner. Technology is utilized as a tool to enhance learning and ownership. Each year all teachers collaborate with their peers to determine trends and evidence of best practices in each instructional program.

Our Maryland School Assessment scores for 2003-2004 were some of the highest in the state. This is a clear indication of our commitment to the child as a learner! This information is shared with the entire school community and used to identify our strengths and areas in need of improvement.

The Oklahoma Road Middle School PTA provides support to students in numerous ways. Each student is provided with an Agenda Book at the beginning of each school year. Cultural programs enhance the existing instructional program. Their continued support for students is recognized at the state level through the Gold Seal Award program.
