History:

The Osborn R-0 School District is steeped in tradition, pride in accomplishments of our students, and the belief that future generations will continue to receive quality education from the dedicated educators who serve this district.

The district was initially started in 1859 and formally organized in 1857 under the Village Act. The first actual school building was a two-story brick structure erected about 1872 at a cost of nearly $7,000. At the time, it was considered one of the finest examples of school architecture in the area.

In 1893, a tornado destroyed the Osborn school building, but before the year had ended, Osborn patrons conducted a bond election and raised sufficient funds to rebuild the school. During the ensuing years until present time, the patrons of the Osborn R-0 School District have demonstrated their support for education. Numerous tax levies and bond initiatives have been passed to create a quality educational system.

Throughout the decades, Osborn graduates have distinguished themselves in various professions, and have brought honor to the school through civic and military service to their country. It is the commitment to quality education from past and current generations that gives the Osborn R-0 School District a rich heritage and promising future.
